Supplies:
10-003P Japanese Lady-in-waiting
Banana Mottled- Natural Paper
Deckle Edge Scissors (Fiskars)
Premo White Polymer Clay
Burnt Umber Acrylic Paint (Liquitex)
Cardstock (dark green)
Adhesive (spray glue & double stick tape suggested)
1. Roll out white Premo clay into thin sheet with pasta machine on thickest setting. Other clays will work, but Premo is strongest and easiest to work with.
2. Place clay on paper (clay has a tendency to stick to other surfaces, when stamping on paper you can just peel it away) and stamp unlinked Japanese Lady-in-Waiting firmly into clay.
3. Cut around the image with deckle edge scissors. Bake according to
package directions.
4. Heavily coat with Liquitex burnt umber paint and let dry for a few
minutes. Wipe off with slightly damp towel. You can use any kind of acrylic
paint. I use Liquitex because it is thicker, more pigmented and less watery
than others. The more watery the paint the less it will stick. Cheaper paints
like Folkart & Delta are very watery and not highly pigmented.
5. Mount banana mottled paper & clay image onto dark green cardstock.
Alternate image uses the exact same technique. A variety
of effects can be obtained by how much paint you take off and how long you
let it dry. For this image the paint was completely dry and a paper towel
without water was used to wipe if off.
An even thicker & more heavily pigment acrylic paint (Vanguard) was used
as well.
It is mounted on red cardstock instead of green.
Overall dimensions (green) approximately 6" x 4 1/2"
